Events give your team visibility into external conditions that may require attention, such as severe weather, wildfires, earthquakes, or other risk events affecting your properties.
They help teams understand what is happening, which site may be affected, and whether any preparation or follow-up may be needed.
What is an Event?
An Event is a record of an external risk condition that may affect one or more sites.
Events can be created from external sources and surfaced in Eolas so your team can review the information in one place.
Examples can include:
Wildfires
Tornado watches
Severe thunderstorms
Flood warnings
Earthquakes
Other environmental or external risk conditions
Events are part of the Eolas risk intelligence experience and are intended to help your team stay informed about conditions that may affect your properties.
What information does an Event include?
From the Events list, you can review information such as:
Event name
Category
Source
Associated site
Event date
Owner
Priority
Status
This gives your team a quick way to understand what has been reported and where attention may be needed.
Review Event details
Select an Event to open its details.
Depending on the Event, you may be able to review:
A map showing the Event in relation to the property
A description of the reported conditions
Priority
Site
Category
Event date
Source
Owner
Tags
For example, a wildfire Event may show where the wildfire is located in relation to the affected property along with information about containment, size, or other reported conditions.
Understand Event status
An Event’s Status helps show where it currently stands within the configured Workflow.
For example, a Status might indicate that the Event is:
In an Initial Report stage
Being watched or monitored
Closed after an Incident was created
Closed with no further action
The available Status values depend on the Workflow configured for that Event.
Review Event activity
The Activity tab provides a history of updates made to the Event.
This can include changes to:
Event details
Ownership
Status
Workflow steps
Other tracked updates
Reviewing Activity can help your team understand how the Event has changed over time.
Edit an Event
You can update an Event’s details when information needs to change.
Open the Event.
Select More Actions → Edit.
Update the relevant fields, such as Owner, Category, Urgent, or Tags.
Follow the on-screen prompts to save your changes.
You can also select Edit from the three-dot menu beside an Event in the list.
Add or remove Tags on an Event
Tags help your team group and find related Events. Anyone with permission to edit an Event can add or remove its Tags.
Open the Event.
Select More Actions → Edit.
In the Tags field, open Apply Tags and select one or more Tags. Only Tags that are available for the Event’s site appear in the list.
To create a new Tag, type its name and select the option to create it. The new Tag is available at the Event’s site. If a Tag with that name already exists, Eolas makes the existing Tag available here instead of creating a duplicate.
To remove a Tag, select the X on it.
Save your changes.
Tags appear on the Event’s details and in the Events list. You can also filter the list by Tag. For more about creating and managing Tags, see Creating Tags.
Close an event
When an event no longer requires action:
Open the event.
Find the available workflow actions.
Select Close.
Reopen an event
If a closed event needs further attention:
Open the closed event.
Select Reopen.
Delete an event
To delete an event:
Open the event.
Select the three-dot menu at the bottom-left of the Incident panel and click Delete
Review any confirmation prompt before proceeding.
Events and Incidents
Events and Incidents serve different purposes.
Events provide visibility into external risks that may affect a property.
Incidents document an actual situation or impact that needs to be managed and followed through a process.
For example:
Event: A severe weather warning may affect a property.
Incident: Flooding actually occurs in a resident unit.
An Event does not necessarily mean an Incident has occurred. Your team can review the Event, monitor conditions, and determine whether additional action is needed.
Create an Incident from an Event
If an Event leads to an actual situation or impact that needs to be managed, you can create an Incident from it.
Open the Event.
Select Create Incident from the available Workflow actions.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Incident creation process.
For example, you might create an Incident from a severe weather Event after discovering storm damage at a property.
If your team determines that the Event no longer needs attention, select Close from the available Workflow actions and complete any prompts shown.
The actions available depend on your permissions and the Event’s configured Workflow.
How Events help your team prepare
Events are intended to support awareness and preparation.
By reviewing Event information, your team can:
Identify external risks that may affect a site
Understand where the risk is occurring
Monitor changes as conditions develop
Determine what may require attention
Prepare or take preventive action when appropriate
This helps teams move from simply reacting to property impacts to understanding risk earlier.
